As Bhutan joins the modern world, Kinley Dorji provides sensitive insights into the dilemmas that the people and society confront every day. He uses a number of creative non-fiction writing styles to undertake a small journey into Bhutanese society. The stories go far beyond the pages of this book.

The auspicious Tsampaka Meto is the only flower that blooms in an enclosed space, in a cured shell about four to six feet long. It is perceived as being uncontaminated and a symbol of purity. When taken out of the shell the Tsampaka Meto is believed to sanctify the environment. Like the Tsampaka Meto, Bhutan was able to preserve the purity of human values because it remained hidden in the deep folds of the Himalayas for as long as it was possible.
