With its antioxidant properties, turmeric can help treat and prevent cancer. They help reduce free radical damage to the body. Researchers believe that curcumin as a beneficial herb in cancer treatment. It can affect cancer growth, development and spread at the molecular level.

"Several laboratory studies on cancer cells have shown that curcumin does have anticancer effects. It seems to be able to kill cancer cells and prevent more from growing. It has the best results on breast cancer, bowel cancer, stomach cancer, and skin cancer.

Diabetes

A study found that curcumin in turmeric in 400 times more potent than metformin to activate the enzyme AMPK for type 2 diabetes.

Obesity

A study published in the journal Biofactors showed that curcumin might help reduce growth at fat cells, based on lab results.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease

A small pilot study showed that curcumin supplementation aided patients with ulcerative colitis or Crohn's Disease

Cholesterol

A study showed that curcumin was comparable to atorvastatin at reducing oxidative stress and inflammation in the treatment of high cholesterol in humans.

Pain

One of the more widely accepted properties of curcumin in scientific communities is its ability to manage pain. A 2014 study that discovered curcumin naturally activities the opioid system in diabetic rats.

Toxicity

It seems that the consumption of turmeric and its active compound, curcumin, can help the liver efficiently detoxify the body and alleviate some of the effects of dangerous carcinogens.
