The 1 ngultrum coin is a current circulation currency of the Kingdom of Bhutan. There were four issues between 1974 to 2008, three issues during the reign of Druk Gyalpo (King), and the Jigme Singye Wangchuck (1955–; r. 1972–2006) and a fourth under his successor, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck (1980–; r. 2006–).
The first coin was introduced in 1974 to coincide with Jigme Singye's coronation as Druk Gyalpo, later minted again in 1975, followed by a redesign in 1979, the third type during the early 2000s and a fourth in 2008. These last three types bear the same dies (1979), despite being made at different times.
