14+ Flavonoid Honey
Environment conservation is one of the four main pillars of Bhutan’s Gross National Happiness philosophy. As mandated in its constitution, Bhutan will preserve 60% of its land under forest cover.
At present, Bhutan has achieved more than 51% preservation; one of the most significant percentages of any Asian country.
One of Bhutan's significant natural resources is its rich forests and vegetation. Bhutan's subtropical plains and alpine terrain give it more rainfall than its neighbours to the west, a factor greatly facilitating forest growth.
The forests contain numerous deciduous and evergreen species, ranging from tropical hardwoods to predominantly oak and pine forests.
Apis Cerana Beekeeping came to Bhutan in the early 1980s, that spread throughout Bhutan, mostly in the south. The indigenous Apis cerana lives in hollowed out tree trunks or even in the outside walls of local homes. However, Apis cerana does not produce much honey and are prone to absconding.
