VAST Rice Bank Project - No One Deserves to Go Hungry
VAST Mission - No One Deserves to Go Hungry
Asha Karma, the founder of Voluntary Artists' Studio, (VAST), believes that art can be a form of communication that conveys social issues and connects with the younger generation.
The Fourth Rice Bank project was held at Zarbisa chiwog under Kabji gewog in Punakha.
The 16 selected families were given 100 drey (one drey is equal to 1.5 to 2kgs) of rice to be paid back in installments of 20 drey a year for five years without interest.
Families with installment difficulties will be provided with relief rice and manpower to meet the deadline.
All rice will be collected and sold under the VAST’s community development program.
Bhutan Natural is proud to support and distribute the Voluntary Artists' Studio, (VAST), Rice Bank Project - No One Deserves to Go Hungry in Singapore.
Proceeds from the Milled Red Rice sale:
- 50 percent will be used for buying rice to be distributed to the families as relief rice for free.
- 50 percent will be deposited as seed money for the next Rice Bank.
